6 Ways Honda Sensing® Technology Makes Driving Safer

If you drive a 2017 Honda Accord, Civic, CR-V, Pilot or Ridgeline, then you’re probably familiar with Honda Sensing® , Honda’s new suite of driver-assistive sensing technologies. By using advancements in semi-autonomous driving to prevent avoidable traffic collisions, Honda Sensing® is improving the driving experience by making how we drive safer than ever. Here’s a quick breakdown of the safety features standard with Honda Sensing®.

  1. Lane Departure Warning
If you make an un-indicated lane departure, then Lane Departure Warning will deliver visual and audio alerts to bring your attention to your sudden lane drift.
  2. Lane Keeping Assist System
Another feature designed to keep you safely in your lane, Lane Keeping Assist works by adjusting the steering when you start to veer, gently guiding you back to center.
  3. Road Departure Mitigation
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) will alert you with rapid vibrations on the steering wheel if you start drifting too close to the side of a detected roadway and you’re driving between 45–90 mph without activating your turn signal. If no action is taken, then RDM will apply steering torque and braking to keep your Honda in the detected lane.
  4. Adaptive Cruise Control
Gone are the days of tapping up or down to increase or decrease Cruise Control speed. Adaptive Cruise Control helps you maintain a set following interval, so you don’t have to manually change the speed.
  5. Forward Collision Warning
With Forward Collision Warning (FCW), a small camera is mounted at the top of the front windshield, positioned to detect the presence of vehicles in front of you. If FCW determines you’re at risk of collision, then it’ll warn you by activating audio and visual alerts.
  6. Collision Mitigation Braking System™
Working in tandem with Forward Collision Warning, the Collision Mitigation Braking System will apply brake pressure if a collision is detected in front of you and you haven’t applied the brakes or if you haven’t applied sufficient brake pressure.
